The SEC’s 10 most impactful freshmen (so far, at least)

We’re at the midway point of the season — well, for some teams, at least — and a number of freshmen have made big impacts in the SEC.

Here’s a look at the 10 most impactful freshmen in the SEC to this point. Note that this is not a listing of the most talented freshmen, just those who have made the biggest overall impact to this point.

Redshirt freshmen are denoted with an asterisk.

JAKE FROMM, by Dale Zanine/USA Today Sports

10. Georgia QB Jake Fromm

Recruiting particulars: 4-star recruit from Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County; national top-50 overall prospect and top-3 pro-style QB prospect
The skinny: He hasn’t been asked to do much in the passing game, but when he has been asked, he has delivered: 10 TD passes in just 95 attempts. He has played steady, calm football, and is a reason Georgia is unbeaten and ranked fifth. Georgia’s rushing attack has carried the offense to this point. At some point, though, Fromm is going to need to make a big play at a key moment with his arm. Will he be able to do so?
