Readying for St. Patrick’s Day with the greatest ‘Patricks’ in SEC football history

With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, Gridiron Now has compiled a list of the best “Patricks” in SEC football history. While none of them banished snakes or were the inspiration for a national day of alcohol consumption, they are all highly accomplished in their own right.

Let’s start with a Patrick you may not remember even though he played relatively recently.

Patrick Benoist, linebacker, Vanderbilt (2006-09)

The buzz: Benoist earned second-team All-SEC honors as a junior in 2008, when he finished third in the league with 109 tackles. He also had 6.5 tackles for loss and five pass breakups this season. He was a team captain as a senior in ’09, when he made 85 tackles and 5.5 tackles for a loss.
