The 3 SEC players most on the spot this week

Here’s a look at the three SEC players who will be most in the spotlight in the weekend’s games. Suffice it to say, if these guys shirk from the glare, their teams are in trouble.

3. Georgia QB Jake Fromm

The skinny: Georgia is at Auburn this week in the SEC’s best game, and both teams want to run the ball. That style of offense has worked especially well for the unbeaten Bulldogs, who average a league-high 279.3 rushing yards per game. Auburn will focus on stopping the run, which means Fromm is going to have some opportunities to make plays in the passing game. He needs to hit them. Fromm has attempted just 93 passes in six SEC games (Ole Miss’ Jordan Ta’amu has started twice – and he has only 12 fewer attempts). Fromm has been on target more often than not, but as the season winds down, the stakes are much, much higher. Fromm, a true freshman, has to play beyond his years.
