SEC running backs taken in the 1st round of the NFL draft since 2000

After three seasons at LSU, Leonard Fournette could be the first running back selected in the 2017 NFL draft. And whether or not that actually turns out to be the case, his selection likely will come at some point in the first round.

Still, while it has become rarer for running backs to be taken as a high-draft choice in recent years, Fournette won’t be the first to hold such a distinction, especially from those who formerly played in the SEC.

If Fournette does get picked in the first round this April, he will be the 13th running back taken from the SEC since 2000.
