With more than 20 offers, including five from SEC schools, three-star running back Slade Bolden still is feeling his way through the recruiting process.
“There’s a bunch of teams that are looking at me,” Bolden told GN. “I haven’t listed a top school list, but I probably will soon. I don’t know if I’ll wait until after spring or not because a lot more schools come around during springtime.”
Bolden (5 feet 11, 192 pounds), from West Monroe (La.) High, is among the top-10 all-purpose backs in the class of 2018. He has SEC offers from Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
Speaking of LSU, is there any pressure on Bolden to head to Baton Rouge?
“I don’t think there’s any pressure on me,” Bolden said. “People may try to, but to me it’s just another offer. Of course, it’s more valuable than some because I grew up an LSU fan. Obviously, they’re going to be an option just like other schools.
“As I have grown up and seen the process and been through it, it’s whatever is best for me, not what my dream may be or anything like that.”

Bolden has a few keys that he’s looking for in a college choice.
“I definitely don’t want to be too far away from home,” Bolden said. “I want to be within a five- or six-hour range at the max. Playing early is important, but anywhere I go there’s always going to be competition. So, it will be up to me whether I play or not.
“I want to be able to fit in the program, succeed in the offense and be able to thrive in the town. I’m also looking for a great coaching staff that’s personal and wants what’s best for you.”
Bolden says he’s the type of player who can create a spark.
“The best way to describe me is I can make plays happen, whether it’s out of nothing or creating a spark,” he said. “My best attributes are running or receiving. I’m a player that’s quick, has good speed and can make things happen.”
Is playing in the SEC important to Bolden?
“I would definitely like to and I would like to play at the highest competition,” Bolden said. “But if it’s not where I need to be, then I won’t play there.”
Bolden said he is enjoying the recruiting process and has no timetable on a decision.
“If I find the right school and I know it’s the right fit, then I will commit,” he said. “But if not and I’m still trying to sort things out and still really trying to figure things out, then it will be longer.”
Bolden has visited Ole Miss and TCU. His most recent offers have come from Arkansas, Arizona State and LSU, all of which have offered in the past month.
