For the second time this season, the South Carolina Gamecocks will be featured on a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series truck.

South Carolina announced Wednesday that Bolen Motorsports driver Ross Chastain’s No. 66 truck will have a Gamecocks paint scheme during Friday’s North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“Really cool to see how this partnership with the University Athletics department has all come together,” said Bolen Motorsports owner Jeff Bolen, a University of South Carolina alumnus. “To be able to showcase them and their accomplishments has been really neat.”

Chastain also had a Gamecocks paint scheme during the Alpha Energy Solutions 250 at Martinsville Speedway on April 1 to celebrate the school’s men’s and women’s basketball teams reaching the Final Four. In that race, Chastain finished seventh – a team best for the season.

The South Carolina men’s basketball team fell to Gonzaga, 77-73, in the Final Four on the same day of the race; the women’s team beat Mississippi State, 67-55, the following day in the national championship game.

The women’s team defeated Stanford, 62-53, in its Final Four matchup on March 31, one day before the race at Martinsville Speedway.

NASCAR drivers Ricky Stenhouse Jr., of the Monster Energy Cup Series, and Tommy Joe Martins, of the Camping World Truck Series, have worn Ole Miss racing helmets during races.
