Former Auburn running back Stacy Danley was named athletic director at South Carolina State on Monday and will assume his duties immediately.
Danley, who played at Auburn from 1987-90, previously served as athletic director at Alabama State and Tuskegee; Tuskegee is a Division II school, while Alabama State and South Carolina State are FCS programs. He also worked for the Southeastern Conference and his alma mater.
“I am delighted to welcome Stacy Danley to the Bulldog family and to the senior leadership team of this university,” SCSU president James E. Clark said in a release. “With his many years of experience in athletics administration, marketing and fundraising, I believe Mr. Danley is poised to enhance the S.C. State athletics program.”
Danley spent the past two years working with the SLD Sports Marketing Group and will replace Paul Bryant, who resigned to take a similar position at Grambling in December.
Dnaley rushed for 2,427 yards and 14 touchdowns for the Tigers. He was fifth in the SEC in yards from scrimmage in 1988 with 1,005.
