Week 7 of the NFL season is upon us and the headline game this week is certainly the Super Bowl 51 rematch between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons. This game is the Sunday Night Football game, and is sure to attract attention worldwide from fans who are eager to see these two battle it out again.
The Patriots won a thrilling game in February and if we get half the entertainment that we did back then, we are in for a treat this weekend. They are at home, and are favorites for this weekend’s game, with those creating the odds also fancying them to win.
The latest betting lines show that New England are favorites to win the game right now. After last weekend’s comeback win against the New York Jets, they are sure to be one of the most popular NFL betting picks this weekend. Strangely enough, to coincide with what happened between these two last season, the Patriots came from behind to win last weekend, while the Atlanta Falcons threw away a two score lead in their game.
The big stat that puts the odds in favor of the New England Patriots is how good Tom Brady has been this year compared to Matt Ryan. Brady has thrown 13 touchdowns, compared to just six by Ryan. Brady has played a game extra, but he has been very impressive so far this season, especially when throwing to Rob Gronkowski, who has caught four of those touchdowns. The big tight end and Tom Brady go back many years and together they are a formidable force that at times is unstoppable.
Going back to last weekend, the Falcons will want to quickly forget the second half of their game with the Miami Dolphins. At half time they looked to be in good shape, and took a 17-0 lead with them into the locker room. However, 20 unanswered points by the Dolphins in the second half saw them take control of the game and eventually beat the Falcons. Going into this game it is important that the Falcons concentrate, don’t take anything for granted and perhaps most important of all, play for the full 60 minutes.
The New England Patriots are another team who needs to play for the full 60 minutes this weekend, but their result was a positive one. They started very poorly against the New York Jets, finding themselves 14-0 down at one point. They did eventually get going, although it took time and they ran out 24-17 winners in the end. Rob Gronkowski was responsible for two out of the three touchdowns they scored, putting 83 yards on the board too in what was an impressive display.
Both teams will want to put on a performance in this game, and they know the interest is going to be huge. The New England Patriots are currently the favorites to win the game, and after seeing the Atlanta Falcons stumble last weekend, the bookmakers appear to have got this one right going into the game.
