Here’s a look at the three best games in the SEC this weekend.
All three are league matchups, and even though it’s early in the season, each could legitimately be considered a big game. Two are SEC East matchups, the other an SEC West affair. There should start to be a division delineation between “legitimate contender” and “obvious pretender” with this week’s results.
3. Kentucky (2-0) at South Carolina (2-0)
When: Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
TV: SEC Network.
The skinny: The winner becomes a contender for the SEC East title; the loser can start worrying about whether it can win enough games to get to the Music City Bowl. UK’s offense has been inconsistent through its first two games, and truthfully it wouldn’t be a surprise if the passing attack never truly comes around this season. UK RB Benny Snell Jr. needs a big game. WR Deebo Samuel has been a saving grace for South Carolina, with huge plays in each of the first two games; he had a kick-return touchdown in each matchup. The Gamecocks’ offense hasn’t really gotten on track yet. Kentucky has won three in a row in the series.
