The 3 SEC players most on the spot this week

SEC players to watch

Here’s a look at the three SEC players who will be most in the spotlight in the weekend’s games. Suffice it to say, if these guys shirk from the glare, their teams are in trouble.

3. LSU LB Devin White

The skinny: White, a sophomore, is coming off perhaps the best game of his career – and he’ll need to be even better this week against Auburn. Auburn has made a good living the past month simply mashing people in the running game, and White needs to make sure that doesn’t happen Saturday. If Auburn RB Kerryon Johnson and his backfield mates get going, it’ll make it much more difficult for LSU’s secondary against Auburn’s suddenly clicking passing attack. It’s simple but it’s true: LSUs hopes for an upset depend on making Auburn one-dimensional offensively, and to do so, LSU must shut down Auburn’s rushing attack. White is the SEC’s leading tackler with 62, and he’s had four games in a row with double-digit stops. That should be five in a row after Saturday’s contest.
