The 3 SEC players most on the spot this week

SEC players to watch

Here’s a look at the three SEC players who will be most in the spotlight in Saturday’s games. Suffice it to say, if these guys shirk from the glare, their teams are in trouble.

We’re putting three West Division quarterbacks in the spotlight this week.

3. Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham

The skinny: Auburn doesn’t need a big game from Stidham to beat Arkansas. But there’s no way Tigers coaches want a repeat of last week, when Stidham was an ugly 9-of-26 in a loss to LSU. Even with that horrible outing, Stidham is completing 65.5 percent of his passes – but he has just eight TD passes and is averaging only 215.7 yards per game after seven games. More was expected, and maybe more comes this week against a reeling Arkansas squad. Still, it’s fair to wonder if Stidham truly fits the Tigers’ run-oriented offense. In three starts at Baylor in 2015, Stidham averaged 311.1 yards per game despite averaging just 3.4 more attempts per game (27 to this season’s 23.6).
