The 2018 recruiting class wasn’t quite filled out for the Florida Gators; it is now. Four-star tight end Lucas Krull, one of the best junior college prospects in the country, committed to Florida on June 14 and will be eligible to play in 2018.
“I don’t even know where to start,” Krull told GN regarding why he committed to Florida. “Just with Florida itself and the great tradition of football that they have; plus, bringing in Coach (Dan) Mullen and I know the success he is going to bring to the Gator Nation.
“For me personally, it is an opportunity I have to come in and play right away. I’m very excited for the opportunity. Coach (Larry) Scott is a great tight ends coach, one of the best and I’m excited to be able to have him as a coach. So, I think every opportunity that was available in the best way was at the University of Florida.”
Krull had nothing, but positives to say about Dan Mullen.
“He’s just so outgoing, so caring and when you look at him you know that he is a leader,” he said. “He knows how to win, he wants to win and he loves the Gators. I’m just really excited to be amongst him.”
Krull, (6-feet-7, 255 pounds) who is originally from Shawnee, KS, committed to the University of Arkansas back in 2016 and spent his freshman year playing baseball for the Razorbacks, but he left Fayetteville after his freshman season and enrolled at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, MO.
Krull is considered to be among the top-five junior college prospects nationally in the 2018 class and he is the No.1 rated junior college tight end by 247sports.com.
“I’m a guy that is going to bring a lot of energy,” Krull said. “I’m a guy that gets fired up real quick and real easy. I’m also a guy that will bring a lot of power, strength and speed. I’m pretty versatile.
“One of the best things about me is I’m 6’7, but I can run a little bit. You can put me outside, put me inside, put my hand down, you can do a lot of different things with me. So, I’m excited to be able to have coach put me wherever he needs me and wherever I’m best fitted and do whatever I need to do.
