Top Texas prospect in 2019 class, Kenyon Green, excited about Aggie commitment

Jimbo Fisher picked up a huge commitment over the weekend when five-star offensive tackle Kenyon Green announced his intentions to play his college football in College Station.

GN caught up with Green to talk about his commitment and the factors that lead him to Texas A&M.

“Everything was like, well why not A&M,” Green told GN. “I can represent my own state and we can work on bringing this championship back home.”

Green says he has also built a good relationship with the Aggie coaching staff through this process.

“It’s been great and I have a good bond with all the coaches,” Green said. “It’s a blessing that you can say that because some people can’t say that they have a bond with all the coaches.”

Green, (6-feet-5, 318 pounds) from Humble (TX) Atascocita, is considered to be among the top-five offensive tackles in the country, a top-15 overall talent nationally, and the No.1 overall recruit in Texas for the 2019 class.

“It’s amazing, but I take it with a grain of salt and I just keep on going and pushing,” Green said regarding his high national ranking. “I keep working out and trying to get better because I know that others are coming after that top spot and I’m trying to hold on to it.

“I’m very excited and it’s a blessing to be one of the top players in the nation in my class. I’m just excited to be going to A&M where I can also get a great education at a great place.”

What type of offensive lineman the Aggies are getting with Green?

“My strength is my feet, I have real good feet,” Green said. “I pay attention to little details about defensive linemen to make sure I get every detail from them. I watch film all the time, that’s my main thing.”

Since his commitment, has Green started recruiting other top-notch talent to College Station?

“I’ve been recruiting hard since my commitment,” Green said laughing. “A&M has been my top school for a long time and I’ve been trying to see where guy’s minds were for a while now.”

When Green was asked if his recruitment will start shutting down now that he is committed, he left little doubt.
