Was Georgia impressive enough to take top spot in our SEC Power Rankings?

6. Texas A&M

Last week’s ranking: 8

Despite the loss, Texas A&M took the number two team in the nation down to the wire.

Quarterback Kellen Mond exploded for 430 yards and three touchdown passes in the loss. The Aggies host Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday.

5. Mississippi State

Last week’s ranking: 6

Mississippi State earned a quality road win on Saturday as Kylin Hill rushed for 211 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-10 victory against Kansas State. The Bulldogs host Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday.

4. LSU

Last week’s ranking: 4

LSU leaned heavily on its defense in a 31-0 win against SE Louisiana Saturday. Quarterback Joe Burrow had two touchdown throws, but only managed 151 yards passing.

LSU visits Auburn on Saturday.

3. Auburn

Last week’s ranking: 3

JaTarvious Whitlow and Shaun Shivers both rushed for over 100 yards in the Tigers 63-9 win over Alabama State. The Tigers held the Hornets to 205 yards of total offense.

Auburn hosts LSU this week.

2. Georgia

Last week’s ranking: 2

UGA took a 20-10 lead into halftime before exploding for 21 more points in the second half on the road at South Carolina. The Bulldogs defense held South Carolina to 54 rushing yards.

Georgia hosts Middle Tennessee on Saturday.

1. Alabama

Last week’s ranking: 1

Alabama scored 40 points in the first half despite kicking woes and missed opportunities by Arkansas State. Both Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts took turns throwing touchdown passes all afternoon as the Tide rolled to a 57-7 win.

Alabama goes on the road to begin SEC play against Ole Miss Saturday.
