LSU recently received a commitment from three-star offensive lineman Cole Smith. And though he remains largely underrated now, it’s not hard to see why the Tigers think highly of the center prospect.
Smith, from Pontotoc, Mississippi, doesn’t have many offers yet and didn’t even have a 247Sports ranking, but that’s since changed since committing to the Tigers last Saturday. With LSU in need of a center on its future rosters, Smith helps fill a big need, assuming he ultimately signs with the Tigers.
After committing, Smith told Gridiron Now that coach Ed Orgeron’s “high energy” was a reason behind his decision.
Though it hasn’t offered him yet, Mississippi State also could become a player in Smith’s recruitment as his father, Brent Smith, was a former Bulldogs offensive lineman who played nine seasons in the NFL.
