Georgia inside linebacker Roquan Smith did not have to travel far to get the Butkus Award on Sunday.

He received the honor in surprising fashion at the program’s annual awards banquet. Smith was greeted with a nice video message from Duck Butkus, the award’s namesake and a Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker.

Smith received the annual award from Butkus’ son, Matt. You see at the end of the video that Smith added the trophy to his other awards received during the night.

In addition to winning the Butkus Award, Smith was named a permanent team captain for 2017 and the team’s defensive MVP award.
