FOX Sports pundit and admitted Dallas Cowboys homer Skip Bayless predicted Dak Prescott will defeat Tom Brady in next year’s Super Bowl during Wednesday’s “Undisputed” on Fox Sports 1.
Bayless insinuated that the Cowboys were the NFC’s best team in 2016 and should be favored to win the conference next season. That is, as long as the team sticks with Prescott, rather than switch back to former starter Tony Romo.
“My Dallas Cowboys were on the verge this year,” Bayless said. “If (Packers kicker) Mason Crosby hadn’t made two cross-country field goals from Houston to Dallas thanks to the hand of God – it was the hand of God – they would’ve beaten the Falcons at home. I don’t think they would’ve beaten Tom Brady, but at least they would’ve gotten to the Super Bowl.
“Now they’re ready to take the next step. I just hope they don’t take a step back with Tony Romo reinserted into the starting lineup. It’s my deepest, darkest fear is that’s what (Cowboys owner) Jerry (Jones) is angling toward doing. So that’s my caveat: … Romo no hardware. With Romo no hardware.
“But if he goes back to Dak and he takes it up another level – and I think even you’re with me on this – this young man is going places. Ezekiel (Elliott) is going places. He’s a very special talent. That offensive line is entering its prime.”
The Cowboys went 13-3 during the regular season and finished with the top seed in the NFC before falling to the Green Bay Packers, 34-31, in the divisional round of the playoffs.
