Peyton Manning will make a guest appearance on Wednesday’s new episode of the hit ABC comedy “Modern Family.”
In the episode, entitled “Do It Yourself,” Manning plays “Coach Gary,” a sports tutor hired by Gloria (Sophia Vergara) to tutor her young son Joe at sports. With Coach Gary in the house, Gloria’s husband Jay (Ed O’Neill) begins to feel unwanted.
Though he has hosted “Saturday Night Live” and appeared as himself on “The Simpsons” and “Best Time Ever With Neil Patrick Harris,” the role will mark Manning’s first official one as an actor.
Manning also has appeared in numerous television commercials over the years.
Last November, Vergara posted a photo on the “Modern Family” set with Manning.
Since retiring from the NFL last March, the former Tennessee Volunteers quarterback also has become a member of his alma mater’s athletic director search committee.
The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news of Manning’s “Modern Family” appearance.
“Modern Family” airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
