Two-time All-Pro wide receiver Wes Welker met with Tennessee officials in Knoxville on Monday about the possibility of joining the Volunteers’ staff.

Welker, 35, last played in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams in 2015. He has no coaching experience outside of twice serving as a “guest coach” with the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins in the past year.

In 12 seasons in the NFL, Welker caught 903 passes for 9,924 yards and 50 touchdowns. He led the league in receptions in 2007, ’09 and ’11. Along with playing one season with the Rams, Welker played for the New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins and San Diego Chargers.

Welker played four seasons at Texas Tech from 2000-03 before going undrafted in 2004.
