Photo opportunities: Young QBs meet SEC stars at Manning Passing Academy

Manning Passing Academy

Looking for the best quarterbacks of the SEC’s past, present and future? For one weekend, southern Louisiana is a certified quarterback headquarters.

Six starting SEC quarterbacks are among the counselors at the Manning Passing Academy at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Not to mention Peyton Manning, Eli Manning and Archie Manning being on hand.

And with star power like that, the event is already making waves around the Twittersphere.

Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts got photo opportunities with some of his biggest fans.

Nick Fitzgerald and Shea Patterson represented the dueling, squabbling halves of Mississippi with smiling faces in the kind of shot fans won’t be seeing during the Egg Bowl in November, as photographed by Rod Walker of The Advocate of Baton Rouge.

Quarterbacks from Hurts to LSU’s Danny Etling to Louisville Heisman winner Lamar Jackson participated in sessions with the media.

One 2020 prospect, Kendrick Patterson of Pelham (Ga.) High, tweeted photos of himself with Hurts, Jackson and Georgia’s Jacob Eason.

Maybe the biggest attraction, though, was former Tennessee legend Peyton Manning, just a year and a half removed from his NFL retirement. The two-time Super Bowl champion took time for photos with several young quarterbacks hoping to emulate his achievements.
