Four-star linebacker Zakoby McClain has released his list of top 10 schools and a final decision may not be far off.
Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, South Carolina, Ole Miss, West Virginia, Oregon, Nebraska, Michigan State and Tulane, in no particular order, made his top 10.

“It was real hard, but I’m just glad I got it done and got a lot of my chest,” McClain told GN. “It’s real hard because a lot of coaches offer you and they tell you that you can play for them. But then you drop a top 10 and they are like, ‘Well, I didn’t need to offer you because we are not in your top 10.’ I don’t want anybody to feel bad about that.”
McClain (6 feet 0, 205 pounds), from Valdosta (Ga.) High, is among the top-15 outside linebackers in the country and a national top-250 prospect overall.

“I’m a student of the game,” McClain said. “I’m smart and I’ve been playing for a long time. I use my speed a lot, and people say that I’m not big, but really size doesn’t matter. I’m real physical and I will hit anybody that is in my way. When I get between the lines, I play angry, but I’m smart about it.”
So what criteria does McClain have when looking at all the various colleges?
“I’m looking at the education part first,” he said. “The coaching staff, the facility and how I get along with the players. I’m also looking at the community, the atmosphere and the fans.”
That five of McClain’s top 10 schools are in the SEC is not an accident.
“It is a dream and I always wanted to play in the SEC,” McClain said.
Ultimately, McClain says he has enjoyed the recruiting process and that a final decision should come sooner rather than later.
“I want to commit before my senior season starts,” he said.
